What is the Traffic Collision Avoidance Course?

YOU MUST COMPLETE A TCAC COURSE IF YOU:

If you have committed the following traffic infractions and have not elected to attend traffic school, you will receive the following notification from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to attend the following class: TCAC i.e., the Traffic Collision Avoidance Course. It may come to a surprise to many licensed drivers having to attend a traffic collision avoidance course but, your attendance is required if you have committed the following offences:

  • Passed a stopped school bus or,

  • You had two crashes in a two-year period, which resulted in property damage greater than $500 or,

  • You were a driver in a crash and are found at fault and someone was transported to the hospital or,

  • Was Highway Racing or Was a Highway Racing Spectator or for,

  • Reckless Driving or for,

  • Running a red light or traffic control device (such as a stop sign)


You will receive official notification (if you did not elect the 4 hour traffic school option) from the DHSMV to complete the TCAC otherwise known as the Traffic Collision Avoidance Course.

WHY SHOULD I TAKE THE TCAC (TRAFFIC COLLISION AVOIDANCE COURSE) 4-HOUR COURSE ONLINE?

Overall – and in general – it’s easier and much faster than doing the course in person. There is no travel time, no wasting gas and you can do the course when it’s convenient for you!

HOW MUCH IS THE TCAC (TRAFFIC COLLISION AVOIDANCE COURSE) 4-HOUR?

One point we would like to make very clear: Many online traffic school courses claim to be the lowest but, once you hand over your charge card information and continue with your registration or, in many cases – complete the course and start the payment process to attain your certificate – you’ll soon discover you will have to pay extra fees. Some of these fees – to name a few – are disguised as: processing fees, or, handling fees, or service fees which in turn, jacks-up the price of the TCAC (Traffic Collision Avoidance Course) 4-hour is only $23.95 complete, there are no hidden fees and immediately reported to the DHSMV that you have fulfilled your TCAC obligation upon completion!
